Valle delle Ferriere

The Valle delle Ferriere is a protected nature reserve in the valley above Amalfi. A trail follows the stream past subtropical ferns, mossy ruins of medieval iron mills, and a waterfall. The microclimate supports rare plant species found nowhere else in Europe. The hike is moderately strenuous — mostly uphill going in, steep steps on the return — but rewarding for anyone wanting to escape the coastal crowds.
