Kefalonia's headline sights, though, are spread across a large, mountainous island and public buses (KTEL) are sparse and not timed to ships. To reach Melissani Cave and Drogarati (24 km / ~35 min near Sami), Myrtos Beach (30 km / ~40 min), the castle village of Assos (36 km / ~50 min) or chic Fiskardo (50 km / ~70 min), pre-book a rental car, a taxi at a fixed price, or a private driver or small-group tour. Roads are winding, so keep a generous return buffer. Cards are fine in Argostoli but carry cash for cave tickets, beach kantinas and buses. Uber does not operate in Greece.
