A handful of blocks around Plaza Matriz were bought and restored from 2015 onwards, and the crumbling republican mansions now carry some of the best mural work in Peru. Casa Ronald anchors it with galleries, a design shop, a bar upstairs and a view over the bay. Weekdays can be quiet; the point is the walls, which are there whatever the day.
