Rafael Larco Herrera's collection fills an eighteenth-century mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid: Moche portrait vessels, Chimú goldwork, Nasca textiles, and a visible storeroom where 45,000 uncatalogued pots sit on open shelves. The garden restaurant is one of the pleasant lunch stops in Lima, and the famously frank erotic ceramics gallery sits in a separate pavilion.
