🕐 Best time to visit
Late morning when stalls are open and tour groups have moved on.
Smaller and less famous than the medinas of Fez or Marrakech, Casablanca's Old Medina is the original walled town from before the French protectorate. Narrow lanes thread between brassware shops, Berber spice stalls and tagine restaurants, with a working fishing harbour at the seaward end. Less hassle than Marrakech but still expect persistent vendors.
Getting there from the port
Walk through the port gate onto Boulevard des Almohades; the Old Medina's eastern wall is 10 minutes south.
