🕐 Best time to visit
Late afternoon for the soft light on the white walls.
The 12th-century kasbah was built by the Almohads as a citadel on a cliff at the mouth of the Bou Regreg. Its lanes were painted blue and white in the 18th century by Andalusian Moriscos who fled here. Inside are the Bab Oudaia gate, a small Andalusian garden museum and a Moorish café terrace with views over Salé and the Atlantic.
Getting there from the port
ONCF train Casa-Port → Rabat-Ville (50 min) then 15 min walk via Avenue Mohamed V to the Bab Oudaia gate.
