Ships dock at Port Charlottetown right on the downtown waterfront, but Cavendish is ~40 km / 45 min northwest with no useful public bus, so DIY means a rental car (several agencies are a 10-15 min walk into downtown, ~CA$80/€55 a day) or a flat-rate island taxi (~CA$160/€110 round trip with waiting). Green Gables Heritage Place and PEI National Park are both Parks Canada sites — admission is free for summer 2026 under the Canada Strong Pass (normally ~CA$9 each). The whole loop is easy paved driving; the only friction is securing the car on a busy cruise day.
