Morning, when the boats are back in
Corossol sits in a small bay on the north-west coast, eight minutes by taxi from Gustavia and a world away from it. Fishing boats are pulled up on the sand, nets and lobster pots are stacked along the shore, and this is the quartier where the island's old Norman French is still spoken by the oldest residents. There is a tiny beach, a church, and not much else to do but walk the shore and watch the boats - which is precisely the point after an hour of duty-free boutiques. Bring cash if you want anything from the handful of local stalls.
