Le Select has been open since 1949 and has resisted every attempt the island has made to become glamorous. It is a corner bar with a scrappy garden, plastic chairs, hand-painted signs and a burger shack that put the place on the map. Yacht crew, fishermen and off-duty locals drink here, and it is one of the very few places in Gustavia where the bill does not make you flinch. Cash is easiest, though cards are usually fine. It sits a single street back from the quay, five minutes from the tender.
