Morning for calm water; midday for swimming
Anakena is the only white-sand beach on Easter Island, tucked into a sheltered bay on the north coast. Seven moai on the Ahu Nau Nau platform stand watch over the beach, making it the island's most photogenic spot. The calm turquoise water is ideal for a swim after a morning of sightseeing. A small snack bar operates near the beach. The beach holds historical significance as the traditional landing site of the first Polynesian settlers.
