Morning for the fish market; sunset for Ahu Tahai
Hanga Roa is the island's sole town and home to nearly the entire population. The waterfront walk runs along the rocky coast from Ahu Tahai in the north to the fishing pier and Hanga Piko in the south — roughly 2 km. Along the way you'll pass the fish market (busiest in the mornings), craft stalls selling woodcarvings and stone replica moai, a couple of waterfront cafes, and several small ahu platforms with moai visible from the path. A good option for the last hour before tender departure.
