The king crab safari is Honningsvåg's signature harbor-side activity. A fast RIB boat takes you a short distance into the fjord, where the skipper hauls up a cage of massive red king crabs — not native to Norway but invasive from a Soviet-era experiment — for you to hold and photograph. Back on shore, the crabs are cooked and served with a simple sauce and bread. It's a good pick if the North Cape road is closed or if you've already done the Cape on an earlier call. Dress warm — even in July the sea breeze is cold.
