Walk Ostseekai → Kiel Hauptbahnhof in ~20 min (signed pedestrian route, flat) or grab a €10 taxi. Regional RE trains run twice-hourly to Hamburg Hbf in 1h15, ~€25 walk-up second class (€17.50 Sparpreis if booked 3+ days ahead via bahn.de). In Hamburg, Speicherstadt, Elbphilharmonie plaza and Rathaus are all walkable from Hbf within 20 min each; the U/S-Bahn day ticket (€7.30) is only worth it if you push out to St. Pauli or Reeperbahn.

Walk Ostseekai → Kiel Hauptbahnhof (~20 min), then a direct RE train to Lübeck Hbf in 75 min, ~€18 second class with Schleswig-Holstein-Tarif (or use the Deutschland-Ticket monthly if you have one). From Lübeck Hbf it's a flat 10-min walk over the canal to the Holstentor — the old town is a compact island you can walk end-to-end in 25 min.
