The Secret Buddha Garden, also called the Magic Garden, sits high in Samui's jungle hills - a scatter of stone statues, deities and shrines built from the 1970s by a local fruit farmer, Nim Thongsuk. Streams, viewpoints and mossy figures make it an atmospheric, slightly surreal spot with sweeping views down to the coast. The catch is the access: a steep, rough mountain track only tackled by 4x4 or on an organised tour.
Getting there from the port
