There is nothing at Laem Chabang, so pre-book a private car with driver (about USD 90-160 per car for the day) that meets you at the port gate; central Bangkok is roughly 120 km / 2 hours north on the motorway, more in traffic. Entries are paid in baht: the Grand Palace is about 500 THB (~EUR 13), Wat Pho about 300 THB (~EUR 8) and Wat Arun about 200 THB (~EUR 5) plus a 5 THB cross-river ferry. Dress modestly (covered shoulders and knees) for the temples.

Pre-book a private car with driver at the port gate; Ayutthaya is about 200 km / 3 hours north, beyond Bangkok, so this only works when the ship is in port late or overnight. Each temple charges about 50 THB (~EUR 1.30) and the ruins are spread across a river island, so the car doubles as your transport between them. Bring water and sun cover - there is little shade among the ruins.
