🕐 Best time to visit
Anytime during the West Bank loop — usually a 10-min photo stop.
Two 18 m seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III stand alone in the West Bank floodplain — they once flanked the entrance to his mortuary temple, which earthquakes and Nile floods destroyed. Greek and Roman tourists named them after Memnon because the northern statue 'sang' at sunrise (vibrations from temperature change in cracked stone, fixed by Roman repairs).
Getting there from the port
Same Luxor coach day; the colossi are on the road between the bridge and Hatshepsut.
