From the cruise terminal to the city centre
USS Midway is across the street; Seaport Village is 8 min south; Gaslamp Quarter is 10 min east. The Embarcadero is flat and shaded by trees.
📍 Cross North Harbor Drive from the cruise terminal exit to the Embarcadero
MTS Blue/Green trolley reaches Old Town, Little Italy, Mission Valley, and Tijuana border. Use the PRONTO app or contactless to tap on.
📍 Santa Fe Depot trolley/train station, 6 min walk north along the Embarcadero
Yellow Cab and other licensed taxis. $10-15 to Balboa Park, $25-35 to La Jolla, $20 to Coronado via the bridge. All accept cards by law.
📍 Taxi rank outside each cruise terminal exit
Uber and Lyft both operate. Rideshare pickup zone is signed at each pier exit. Often a few dollars cheaper than taxis.
📍 Designated rideshare pickup zone outside each terminal
Useful for La Jolla, Cabrillo, Sunset Cliffs and the wider county. Skip for downtown/Gaslamp days where walking + trolley + Uber is faster.
📍 All major rental agencies are at San Diego International Airport (SAN), 4 km north of the cruise port
Cruise-line shuttles to Balboa Park / Old Town are convenient but pricier than rideshare. Skip if you only need the Gaslamp — it's a flat 10-min walk.
📍 Cruise-line shuttle desk inside the terminal
