The pier is in Frederiksted, but the highlights are island-wide, so a DIY means sharing one of the regulated taxi vans that meet every ship for a half-day island loop (about US$40–50pp, agreed up front). Christiansted is about 30–40 minutes east across the island; Fort Christiansvaern charges a small national-park pass (about US$10); Point Udall is a further windswept headland at the far east end. Fix a firm pickup time with your driver, as the loop is long.

Christiansted is about 30–40 minutes east of the Frederiksted pier, so a DIY needs a regulated taxi van (about US$25pp each way — arrange the return) or the cheap-but-infrequent VITRAN bus. Once there the National Historic Site is compact and self-guided: the fort, Scale House, Steeple Building and Custom House cluster around the boardwalk for one small park pass (about US$10). Pair it with lunch and a stroll of the Danish-colonial streets.
