Bigger day trips - the royal tombs at Vergina, Mount Olympus or the Halkidiki beaches - need a car or organised transport, so keep an eye on your all-aboard time.

From the cruise terminal to the city centre
From Pier 2 it is a flat 5-minute walk to the Ladadika district and about 15 minutes to Aristotelous Square and the seafront; most of the historic centre is walkable from there.

Blue-and-white city taxis wait at the port gate and are cheap for hops around town; ask about card payment before you ride, or use the FreeNow app. Agree a price for longer trips such as Vergina.

OASTH city buses run along the seafront and main avenues; buy a ticket from the machine or tap a contactless card. Handy in summer heat, but the centre is compact enough to walk.
