Gotlands Museum is Visby's most substantial indoor attraction and the best rainy-day option in town. The undisputed star of the collection is the Spillings Hoard, discovered on a farm in 1999 — almost 70 kg of Viking silver (mostly coins) buried around 870 AD. The rest of the museum covers Gotland's Stone Age picture stones, medieval history, and a well-curated Hanseatic gallery. Plan 45-90 minutes depending on how much you read; labels are in Swedish and English.
