Ships dock at Garpaskjær quay, a flat 15-minute walk from the town centre – follow the City Centre signs over the bridge into Haraldsgata. For Haraldshaugen (2 km north) take Kolumbus bus 201 from the Strandgata stop and get off at "Gard" (the Esso station); the fare is NOK 45 / ~€4 one-way bought in the Kolumbus Billett app, as cards are not accepted onboard (cash NOK 65). The monument grounds are free and open; the rest of the day is on foot in the compact centre.

Avaldsnes is about 10 km south on Karmøy island. From the cruise pier walk into town and take Kolumbus bus 208, 209 or 210 from Strandgata to Avaldsnes – a ~25-minute ride, NOK 45 / ~€4 one-way in the Kolumbus Billett app (cards not accepted onboard), then a 20-minute walk to the History Centre. In summer (15 Jun–13 Aug 2026) the combined ticket is NOK 190 / ~€17 and covers the centre, the Viking Farm longhouses and St. Olav's Church with guided tours. Buses run roughly every 30 min on weekdays and less often at weekends, so check return times before you set off.
