Late morning; a full-day commitment
Sapadere Canyon is a cool, green cleft in the Taurus mountains about an hour inland from Alanya, where a 700-metre wooden boardwalk hugs the gorge wall above icy turquoise plunge pools to a waterfall you can swim beneath. It is a favourite jeep-safari destination, dramatic and refreshing even in the peak of summer. The mountain drive is long, so it is a committing choice on a cruise day - do it only on a long call, ideally with a private driver or an organised tour that guarantees your return time.
Getting there from the port
Car or jeep tour about an hour north-east on mountain roads.
