Ålesund's main cruise quays (Storneskaia, Skansekaia, Prestebrygga) sit a 2–5 min walk from the Art Nouveau centre — no transport needed to reach the old town. The 418-step Aksla climb begins at Byparken (8 min walk from Skansekaia) and takes ~15–20 min up. Fjellstua viewpoint at the top is free for café/restaurant guests or NOK 100 (~€9) for view-only access. As of early 2025 the hop-on-hop-off bus no longer drives all the way to the summit, so the steps or the tourist train (NOK 290 / ~€26 return) are the alternatives if you don't want to walk.

Local bus route 618 (Fram operator) runs from central Ålesund out to Skarbøvika near the Atlantic Sea Park (15 min, NOK 45 / ~€4) and the Sunnmøre Museum sits on bus 624 (~15 min east). The Stromma hop-on-hop-off bus (NOK 495 / ~€45 for 24h) connects both stops directly from the cruise terminal and is the simpler choice on a port day. Atlanterhavsparken adult entry is NOK 250 (~€22); Sunnmøre Museum adult entry is NOK 145 (~€13).
