Frank Gehry's curving titanium museum opened in 1997 and turned a declining industrial port into one of Europe's great city-break destinations. The building itself is the main exhibit: walk right round it along the river before you go in, past Puppy, the giant spider Maman and the fog sculpture. Inside, Richard Serra's walk-through steel spirals in the vast ground-floor gallery are the permanent highlight; the upper floors host changing exhibitions. Tickets include an audio guide and under-18s go free. Book online on busy cruise days and remember the museum is closed on Mondays.
