Bodrum rewards an easy independent day. Walk or take the free sea shuttle into town for the Castle of St Peter and its underwater-archaeology museum, the Mausoleum ruins and the bazaar. Beaches such as Gumbet and the fishing village of Gumusluk are a short taxi or dolmus ride away. Everything central is doable on foot; you only need transport for the beaches and outlying villages.

The Global Ports Holding finger pier on the east side of Bodrum bay, with four berths (690 m of quay) taking ships up to 350 m. About 1.5 km from the castle and old town; a free sea shuttle and a flat waterfront walk connect the pier to the centre.
