Built by the Knights Hospitaller from 1402 on the site of an earlier fortress, the Castle of St Peter (Bodrum Kalesi) dominates the harbour with its towers, chapel and ramparts. Today it houses the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, and the walls give some of the best views over the town and its two bays.
