Late morning to lunch for the liveliest stalls

Jagalchi is Korea's largest seafood market, sprawling along the Nampo waterfront where it has traded since the years after the Korean War, run largely by the tough 'jagalchi ajumma' fishwives. The ground floor is a glistening hall of tanks and stalls piled with live fish, octopus, crab, sea squirts and shellfish; buy what you like and take it upstairs, where restaurants will grill or serve it as sashimi on the spot. Even if you don't eat, the raw, salty bustle is one of Busan's great spectacles.
