The main effort is the climb up to the Castello district, where the cathedral, towers and archaeological museum sit behind medieval walls. Poetto beach and the Molentargius flamingo lagoon are a short bus or taxi ride east; Nora's Roman ruins are about 45 minutes south. Most cruisers combine a couple of hours in Castello and the Marina with either the beach or a half-day excursion.

The cruise quay (Molo Rinascita) is on the city waterfront — walk off and take the free port shuttle to Piazza Matteotti, or stroll there in 12 minutes. From Piazza Yenne the free Porta Cristina public lift carries you up into Castello, so the whole loop (Bastione, cathedral, Castello lanes, the two Pisan towers) is on foot at no transport cost. Only the optional tower climbs (~€4) and amphitheatre (~€3) cost anything.

From Piazza Matteotti the ARST intercity coach runs to Pula in about 50–55 minutes for ~€3–4 (buy the ticket at a tabacchi before boarding — you cannot pay the driver). From Pula it is a short seasonal local bus or a ~€8 taxi to the Nora gate. Site entry is €10 (cruise/concession rates apply) and a free Norapp audioguide replaces the cruise guide.
