Walk 10 minutes from the cruise terminal to Cairns Station on Bunda Street for the 8:30am or 9:30am Kuranda Scenic Railway departure (Heritage class AUD $58 one-way). Spend 2–3 hours in Kuranda Village, then take Skyrail from Kuranda terminal back to Smithfield (included in AUD $145.50 combo). From Smithfield, a pre-booked shuttle or Uber (AUD $25–30) returns you to the cruise terminal area in 20 minutes.
