A stepped pyramid of hand-made adobe bricks, set on edge like books on a shelf so it could flex in earthquakes, built by the Lima culture around 400 AD and later used as a Wari burial ground. It is entirely surrounded by apartment blocks, which is much of the charm. Entry is by guided tour on a fixed path; the evening floodlit tours are worth it if your ship stays late.
