🕐 Best time to visit

Mornings before midday heat; many shops close 13:00-16:00 in summer.

Designed in 1923 by French architects as a planned medina blending Moroccan vernacular with Art Deco, the Habous is calmer and less hassly than the Old Medina. Highlights are the calligraphy and Arabic bookshops, the olive market, the brassware souks and the Mahkama du Pacha — a 1950s pasha's court that doubles as a showcase of Moroccan craftsmanship.
