The Eden Project, set in a reclaimed clay pit near St Austell, is Cornwall's flagship attraction: two vast geodesic biomes housing a steamy tropical rainforest and a sunny Mediterranean landscape, surrounded by outdoor gardens. It is an inspiring day out about an hour's drive from Falmouth, usually reached by cruise coach tour or hire car, and tickets are best booked ahead.
