Anse de Grande Saline is what the rest of the island looked like before the villas: a wide arc of pale sand with absolutely nothing built on it, protected because the land behind is an old salt pond. There is no road to the beach itself - you park by the pond and walk five minutes over a low dune, and the beach opens up in front of you all at once. The swimming is good but the shore break can be strong, and there is no shade, no bar and no lifeguard. Bring water, and arrange your taxi back before you leave Gustavia.
Getting there from the port
Taxi to the Saline car park, then five minutes on foot over the dune
