The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas were built in 1976 at the end of a zigzag bridge on Lotus Pond, a lake in Kaohsiung's old Zuoying district. Tradition says you should enter through the dragon's mouth and leave through the tiger's, turning bad luck into good; inside, the walls are painted with scenes of heaven and hell. You can climb both seven-storey towers for views over the lake and its many temples. After a renovation the pagodas are fully open again. Entry is free and the site closes at 18:00.
