March to June, when the falls flow strongest
Expedition ships anchor at the mouth of the King George River and send Zodiacs about 12 km up a narrow gorge of red and orange sandstone. The ride ends at the foot of Oomari, the twin King George Falls, where the water drops about 80 m off the plateau. The falls are at their fullest from March to June; by September the flow can be a trickle. Bring a rain jacket or dry bag if you get close: the spray is heavy early in the season.
