Behind the castle, Limassol's old town is a walkable knot of restored lanes and squares - Saripolou with its bars and restaurants, the old covered market, craft and jewellery shops, small churches and street art - opening onto the seafront promenade. It is flat, shaded in places and free to wander, an easy way to get the feel of the city between the castle, the marina and a taverna lunch. Everything of interest is within a few minutes' walk.
