From the West Port, take a taxi to Niigata Station (~15 min, ¥2,200/€15). JR Hakushin Line runs direct to Shibata Station every 20–30 min (35 min, ¥510/€4). Shibata Castle is free entry and a 15-min walk from the station; Shimoyashiki Garden charges ~¥500/€3.
