Port summary
Port Canaveral is an embarkation port, not a true port-of-call. The terminals are spread across a working harbour with no walkable town — every move needs a taxi, rideshare or pre-booked shuttle. Most cruisers fly into Orlando (MCO) and transfer 45 minutes east.

From the cruise terminal to the city centre
Metered Brevard County taxis at every terminal. All accept cards. Roughly $20–30 to Cocoa Beach or the Cove restaurants.
📍 Taxi rank outside each cruise terminal exit
Uber and Lyft both operate; rideshare zone signposted at each terminal. Often the cheapest option to Cocoa Beach or KSC.
📍 Designated rideshare pickup zone outside each terminal
Cruise-line shuttles run to Orlando airport (MCO) and to Kennedy Space Center; private shuttles run to Cocoa Beach and Orlando theme parks. Pre-book where possible.
📍 Cruise-line shuttle desks inside the terminals; Cocoa Beach Shuttle stand outside the Cove
Best option for Kennedy Space Center, Orlando theme parks, or a self-drive beach day. Reserve online before sailing for the lowest rate.
📍 Avis, Enterprise, Hertz and Budget all have offices within 1 km of the port (free rental shuttle from terminals)
Brevard SCAT route 9 connects to Cocoa Beach and Cocoa proper, but the schedule is sparse and the closest stop is a 20-minute walk through the port. Skip unless on a tight budget.
📍 Brevard SCAT route 9 stops on N. Atlantic Avenue just outside the port gate
The port is a fenced industrial harbour with no sidewalks to anywhere useful. Walking out is not practical or safe.
