Friendship Bay is on the windward side of the island, a long shallow curve facing south towards Mustique, and it feels a world away from the yacht traffic of Admiralty Bay. The trade wind blows straight in, which keeps it cool and keeps the crowds away, but also means chop and a shore break that can be lively by the afternoon. There is a hotel and a bar or two at the western end and very little else. A dollar van over the ridge costs a couple of EC dollars and takes twelve minutes, which makes it the cheapest way to swap the busy side of the island for the empty one.
