Angelmó is where Puerto Montt shops for the sea. Downstairs, the stalls are piled with mussels, clams, giant barnacles (picorocos), sea urchins and smoked fish; you'll also see cochayuyo seaweed and strings of dried mussels. Upstairs, the cocinerías are small family kitchens whose owners call you in from the corridor. Order curanto en olla, the pot version of Chiloé's feast of shellfish, meat, sausage and potato bread, or a paila marina seafood soup. Portions are big and prices fair; most stalls take cash only.

Turn right out of the terminal and walk west along Avenida Angelmó past the craft stalls.
