The Gialova Lagoon is the southernmost major wetland in the Balkans and a key stopover on the Africa–Europe migration route, home to around 250 bird species including greater flamingos, herons and the rare African chameleon. A flat loop trail with observation hides circles part of the water; bring binoculars and sun protection, as there is little shade.
