Built by the Ottomans in 1573, Niokastro (the 'New Castle' of Navarino) is one of the best-preserved castles in Greece. You can walk the hexagonal citadel, the bastioned walls and a domed former mosque, and take in wide views over Navarino Bay and Sphacteria island. The restored buildings inside house the Archaeological Museum of Pylos.
