Under a striking modern canopy, the Palace of Nestor lays bare the plan of a 13th-century-BC royal residence: the great hall with its central hearth, a throne base, storerooms lined with oil jars, and a surviving clay bathtub. Raised walkways guide you above the walls. Its most famous discovery was an archive of Linear B tablets — the oldest known Greek writing — now shown in the Chora museum nearby.
