Ravenna is one of Italy's most rewarding mosaic ports but the cruise terminal is well outside the city. Ships dock at the modern Porto Corsini Cruise Terminal on the south bank of the Candiano Canal, 12 km from the historic centre. Most cruise lines run a paid shuttle (€10-15) to Piazza Kennedy in central Ravenna; Start Romagna bus 70/80 connects Porto Corsini to the city for €1.50 single. A small free passenger ferry-boat hops across the canal to Marina di Ravenna, the local beach town, where bars, restaurants and an Adriatic beach are five minutes away.

Porto Corsini is a docked port ~15 km from the centre; the official cruise shuttle runs to central Ravenna in 30 min for ~€25 return (line 296 public bus is the €3 alternative, 28 min). Once in town every mosaic site is within a 15-minute walk of the next. Buy the Ravenna Mosaici combined ticket (€12.50 for four monuments, ~€15 with the mandatory timed slot for Galla Placidia and the Neonian Baptistery).

This is the one Ravenna excursion where the ship's bus earns its price: independently you take line 296 (~€3) or a taxi to Ravenna station, a regional train to Rimini (~1 hr, ~€9), then the Bonelli Bus shuttle Rimini-San Marino (~50 min, €6 one way). In San Marino the Funivia cable car (Borgo Maggiore to the old town) and the Guaita tower (~€6) are walk-up. Allow well over two hours each way and only attempt it on a long port call.
