Traffic is the biggest variable; allow extra buffer on return. Book Corcovado train tickets in advance as they sell out. Take a taxi or Uber from Píer Mauá to Cosme Velho station (~25 min, €10) for the Corcovado cogwheel train (R$134 / ~€25 return including Christ the Redeemer access). Then taxi to Praia Vermelha for the Sugarloaf cable car (R$160 / ~€30). Pre-book the Corcovado train online — it sells out on cruise days, especially morning slots.

Walk directly from Píer Mauá — the Museum of Tomorrow is 10 minutes on foot along Boulevard Olímpico. The Selarón Steps and Lapa Arches are a 15-minute walk from the museum. Santa Teresa is uphill from Lapa and reachable on foot or via the historic bonde tram (R$20 / ~€4). No transport needed for the core route except the return from Santa Teresa.
