Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari is one of the most architecturally striking temples in Egypt — three colonnaded terraces rising against the Theban cliffs. Hatshepsut was one of only a handful of women to rule Egypt as pharaoh (c. 1479-1458 BC) and the temple celebrates her divine birth and Punt expedition. Restored in the 20th century from rubble.
