Take the TER train from Gare de Saint-Malo to Pontorson-Mont-Saint-Michel (change at Dol-de-Bretagne, ~50 min total, ~€13 one way). From Pontorson station, a free/€3 shuttle bus runs to Mont Saint-Michel (15 min). Abbey entry is €16 adults, free under 18 and EU 18–25. Online tickets skip the queue, which can exceed 60 minutes in July–August. The village itself is free to explore.

BreizhGo bus 210 runs from Saint-Malo (Esplanade Saint-Vincent area) to Dinan (Place Duclos) in about 45 minutes for ~€3. Buses run every 3 hours, so check the return schedule before leaving. From Place Duclos walk 10 minutes to the old town. The Château de Dinan is ~€7 entry. Rue du Jerzual is a steep cobblestone descent from the upper town to the port — very atmospheric but hard work on the return climb.
