Walk 15 min from Palacrociere terminal to Savona railway station via Via Paleocapa. Trenitalia Regionale runs 2-3 times per hour to Genova Piazza Principe (32-50 min, €7.20 one way / €14.40 return; buy at platform machines or Trenitalia app, no seat reservation needed). From Piazza Principe it is a flat 15-min walk down Via Balbi into Via Garibaldi (Palazzi dei Rolli) and onwards to Piazza De Ferrari and the Cathedral. Most Rolli palace courtyards are free; Palazzo Rosso/Bianco/Doria-Tursi joint ticket is €9.

Walk 15 min from Palacrociere to Savona station, then Trenitalia Regionale or Intercity direct to Santa Margherita Ligure-Portofino (1h30-1h50, €11.55 Regionale one way / €23 return). From Santa Margherita station, walk 10 min downhill to the harbour and take the Servizio Marittimo del Tigullio ferry to Portofino (15 min, €8.50 one way / €15 return, hourly in summer) or ATP bus #82 (25 min, €3 one way). Portofino itself is walking-only past the piazzetta - allow 2 hours for the harbour, Castello Brown (€5 entry) and the lighthouse walk.
