The trains depart from the rail dock right next to the cruise berths — no transit needed beyond a short walk. WPYR sells directly online for US$155 (€140) adult / US$77.50 (€70) child if booked 24+ hours ahead; the same train, same seats, same narration as the cruise-line version. No passport required for the basic Summit Excursion since the train turns around at the summit.

Everything is walkable from the cruise dock — the KGNP visitor center is 15 min on foot and all gold-rush sites are within a 6-block grid. KGNP entry is free (ranger-led walking tours run daily in summer, also free).
