Cap Spartel is the northwesternmost point of mainland Africa, where the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea meet. The current lighthouse dates from 1864 and is still active. The small esplanade has café terraces, a few craft stalls, and a permanent line of grand taxis waiting to take you back to town or on to the Caves of Hercules.
